Orange World

"Look, Sweetie! Look out your window! What's that?"


"It's a punkin'!"

"Noooooo, it's an orange. We're in Florida and in Florida they have a lot of oranges. It's a biiiiiiiig orange. So, what is that, honey?"

"It's biiiiiiiig punkin'!"

Actually, Orange World isn't a pumpkin or an orange. It's one of those roadside oddities. Infact, it's so spectacularly odd that you'll see it on the cover of Peter Genovese's book, "Roadside Florida: The Definitive Guide to the Kingdom of Kitsch


Located in Kissimmee between markers 10 and 11 on Highway 192, this four-story dome will catch your eye. Even in the night, neon accentuates its form. You can't miss it.

Does that mean you should park the car and go in?

Well, did you want to ship Florida oranges? That would be one reason to go, but maybe the only reason.

For me, the touristy merchandise crammed inside was much the same as you'd find anywhere else.

But if you need to do some shopping, consider if you'd like to say back home, "I bought this T-shirt for you in The Big Orange! I got a really juicy deal!"
