Kissimmee's Buddhist Temple

Yes, that's right! There's a real, honest-to-goodness Buddhist Temple in Kissimmee.

In the land of Mickey and Minnie, there is also enlightenment.

Truly, the place is as fantastical as anything you'd see in EPCOT.

If Thailand were represented at EPCOT, it probably would look something very close to this enclave of buildings. Can't place Thailand? It's the country of "The King and I"; the former Siam.

You don't have to be Buddhist to vist the grounds and buildings. You do, however, have to welcome diversity. There are groundskeepers, from Thailand, who will leave you alone, if you wish, or will answer your questions if you ask. Look for the slow-moving men in orange.

Wondering about entering into the buildings? First and foremost, turn off your cell and then remove your shoes. Need more advice on how to act? The main building has this sign posted:

Infact, my favorite part of the visit was the signage on the trees. These wooden placards speak the eternal wisdom which is both simple and universal. I don't think you have to be Eastern to agree with these truths which are found in all religions. To be quiet and reflective as you walk around, reading these words is indeed renewing of that inner peace within.
